New Mexico Highlands Athletics

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has released their All- Conference Awards for the 2010 softball season. Two Cowgirls earned honors on the Second and Third All Conference Teams. Junior Tanya Groff earned honors on the Second Team as a Designated Player. Groff batted .355 on the year for the Cowgirls. She recorded one double and seven homeruns during the season. She scored 18 runs on 38 hits. She brought in 37 RBIs and had a slugging percentage of .561.

The Cowgirls softball team ended their season on a great note and sent their seniors off in style as they split with the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks in RMAC action. The Skyhawks took the doubleheader on the first day and the Cowgirls cleaned up on day two with two more victories. In game one the Cowgirls took the early lead and held the Skyhawks scoreless until the sixth inning, which turned out to be a big inning for the Skyhawks. The Cowgirls gave up four runs in the inning which brought the score to 4-2 with the Cowgirls on the backside.
