New Mexico Highlands Athletics

Sophomore Nicaise Kazingo placed eighth overall at the 2009 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship, hosted by the University of Southern Indiana, with a time of 31:19 for the 10K race. Kazingo’s finish is the highest ever for an NMHU athlete since the school joined the NCAA in 1992 and marks the third consecutive year that the Cowboys have had an All-American finisher at nationals.

New Mexico Highlands University cross-county standout Nicaise Kazingo raced his way to a spot in the NCAA National Championship meet with a strong seventh place finish at the Central Region Championships in Wayne, Neb. on Saturday morning. Kazingo, who has been All-RMAC in each of his first two seasons at Highlands, will make his first trip to the national meet when he races at the NCAA Division II Championships, to be held November 21st in Evansville, Indiana.
