New Mexico Highlands Athletics

NMHU Head Coach Steve Jones and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Joe Harge will be representing Highlands at the New Mexico High School Coaches Association Convention state clinic as keynote speakers on 7/28. Both coaches have had unsurpassed success at NMHU over their careers at the institution. Coach Jones boasts a .578 winning percentage and an overall record of 421-307 in his 13 year career at NMHU. Harge, will start his third year at the helm of the Cowboys Men’s Basketball team this coming season and has a .678 winning percentage and a overall record of 40-19 in his two years leading the Cowboy Men’s Basketball team.

Cowboy baseballers Jason Carr and David Bustillos have been named to the Daktronics Baseball All-America teams. Carr, a Mr. Everything for the Cowboys in the 2010 season, was named to the Daktronics All-America First Team and Bustillos received All-American Honorable Mention honors for his efforts in the 2010 season. The Cowboys finished ranked 6th in NCAA DII and with a final record of 41-13 in the 2010 season. The Cowboys also finished the regular season ranked #1 in the Central Region and earned the right to host the NCAA Central Regional for the first time in NMHU history.
